The A side was one of ABBA's most instantly identifiable recordings, a factor which tended to deflect the spotlight from the Latin-American flavoured 'That's Me', a fine recording in its own right. One of the group's biggest selling UK singles, 'Dancing Queen' reached the half million mark during its first month of release, and eventually clocked up sales of more than 850,000 in Britain alone, also topping the chart in Holland, Australia, West Germany, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Austria.

The commitment had been made in January of that year, but six months later, circumstances had altered so radically that the tour would have been a positive disadvantage. The first problem was the health of the members of the group - the day after Eurovision, Agnetha had been laid low with a throat infection, and each one of the group was showing signs of the strain of constant travelling to various European countries for interviews and television appearances. To undertake the folkpark tour would have meant losing two valuable months, one in rehearsal and one actually performing, at a time when they needed to rest, selecting only those engagements prestigious enough to aid their conquest of foreign territories.
